According to CoinMeta, British authorities continued their investigation into Farage's crypto “gifts” after he won the by-election. Farage's victory in the by-election triggered an investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner into his crypto donations. The investigation Farage is facing is related to millions of dollars in donations and gifts he received from two individuals in the crypto industry. The investigation was suspended after Farage resigned from his parliamentary position in July, but was resumed after he was re-elected. The investigation will focus on a $6.7 million donation made to Farage by crypto billionaire Christopher Hobson, as well as security and employee expenses related to Farage that were funded by George Costello, a criminal associated with crypto casinos. According to British parliamentary rules, newly elected members of parliament must register all current financial interests, as well as any interests received over the past 12 months, within one month of being elected. Farage initially referred to Costello's donation as a “reward” and later described both individuals' contributions as “unconditional gifts.”
