His victory in the by-election restored his parliamentary status, allowing the investigation to proceed. Parliamentary officials are reviewing a personal payment of £5 million (approximately $6.7 million) that Farage received from billionaire investor Christopher Harborne. This funding was provided to Farage before he entered parliament. Farage initially described it as a "reward," but later referred to it as an unconditional personal gift. The investigation also involves support such as staff, security, transportation, and accommodation provided by his long-term advisor George Cottrell. Farage stated that he had followed the rules prior to becoming a member of parliament.
