According to CoinMeta, Nvidia disclosed on Friday that its shares in Elon Musk’s SpaceX were valued at approximately $21 billion at the end of the second quarter, holding 122.8 million Class A shares. On Friday, the stock of SpaceX closed at $140, down from $170.86 at the end of June, resulting in the value of Nvidia’s shares dropping to about $17.2 billion. Nvidia is the sixth-largest investor in SpaceX, with Musk being the largest shareholder, holding shares valued at around $850 billion. Nvidia’s shares come from a $10 billion investment in Musk’s XAI, as part of a $20 billion financing in January. SpaceX acquired XAI in February with a valuation of $1.25 trillion. Musk stated during SpaceX’s earnings call that the company will exclusively use Nvidia’s chips for AI data centers, and called Nvidia’s graphics processing units the “best architecture” for training AI models. He also predicted that SpaceX will obtain an “important quota” of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin GPU next year.
