According to CoinMeta, the People's Bank of China announced that eight additional commercial banks have joined the digital yuan (e-CNY) operation network, bringing the total number of service providers to 30. These eight banks include Ping An Bank, Hengfeng Bank, China Bohai Bank, Shanghai Bank, Hangzhou Bank, Huishang Bank, Changsha Bank, and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Bank. They have established technical connections with the central bank's digital yuan system, and customer services will begin after the banks complete the remaining business and technical preparations. This expansion is related to China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) and aims to improve the accessibility of e-CNY services to meet the demand for secure, convenient, and efficient payment options.
