According to CoinMeta, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated to Russian media on the 17th, in response to Japan's reaction to Russian President Putin's visit to Iturup Island (referred to by Japan as Etorofu Island), that he advised the Japanese leadership to focus on domestic affairs rather than "attacking" Russia. Lavrov said that if Japan attempts to divert international attention from its "outrageously aggressive" military policies by criticizing Russia, then "I suggest they mind their own business, as there are many problems within their country that need to be addressed." Lavrov also mentioned that Japan is trying to ally with its close ally, the United States, in order to "rewrite" international law according to their own wishes. Japan's efforts to evade historical responsibility for its own crimes, as well as its current attempts to break constitutional constraints and expand the overseas activities of its Self-Defense Forces, are "very concerning."
