Saxo: 289 tons of central bank demand drives gold ETF inflow
2026-08-18 09:33:28
According to CoinMeta, Saxo Bank reports that driven by the central bank's demand for 289 tons, the inflow of gold ETF has rebounded. Although long-term government bond yields remain high, Saxo believes this reflects concerns about fiscal and maturity premiums, rather than economic growth or policy tightening, which could weaken the negative correlation between gold and yields. Gold is currently holding steady around $4,400, supported by diminished expectations of Federal Reserve interest rate hikes, a weaker dollar, and a rebound in investment demand. Saxo, the head of commodity strategy at Ole Hansen, stated that gold has broken through the $4,000 support level, and the interest rate environment is clearly favoring gold.
