The standard API price was reduced from $5 for every million token inputs and $30 for outputs to $2.5 and $15 respectively, with the promotion lasting until September 18th. However, OpenAI's own official prices remained unchanged at $5 and $30. This discount is only applicable to OpenAI requests processed by the platform; users who use their own OpenAI and key cannot enjoy the 50% discount. Some suspect that this move may be a marketing strategy. If the 50% discount leads to a short-term doubling of SOL usage, OpenAI's market share on public rankings could also rise rapidly. Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that this is merely a form of "rank boosting."
