Vietnam plans to upgrade Binh Ninh and Quang Ninh to central directly-administered cities to promote industrial upgrading towards high technology

According to CoinMeta, Vietnam is seeking to upgrade its two largest destinations for foreign direct investment – Bắc Ninh Province and Quảng Ninh Province – to directly-administered municipalities at the central level, with the aim of accelerating the development of Samsung’s manufacturing base as well as the region surrounding Ha Long Bay. The Vietnamese National Assembly plans to vote on this proposal by the end of this month, and it is widely anticipated that it will be approved. Since 2008, when South Korean electronics giant Samsung established its first mobile phone factory in Vietnam, Bắc Ninh has been an important manufacturing base for the company. Since then, Samsung has continuously expanded its operations there, and companies such as Foxconn, Goertek, and Luxshare Precision have also set up factories in the province. Matthew Powell, a director at CBRE Real Estate Brokerage, stated that this will propel Bắc Ninh and Quảng Ninh to continue moving towards high-tech and high-value-added industries, unlocking potential for capital growth in the next phase.
