According to CoinMeta, an employee Andrew Ambrosino from OpenAI replaced their own profile image with the same style as Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei: curly hair, black-rimmed glasses, and a gray sweater. They even copied the posture of holding the glasses, as well as the gray background and composition. After making the change, they stated, “I’ll give it my all for the next 6 weeks.” A colleague, Tibo, took two looks before realizing what had happened. Subsequently, this “Dario template” began to spread within the AI community. Someone came up with a general method: by feeding their own photo along with Dario’s profile image into a photo-generation model, they could retain their own face while copying the clothes, posture, lighting, background, and composition. Quickly, the comment section was filled with multiple posts showing different faces but the same gray sweater and glasses-holding posture, all labeled as “Dario”. The community also started joking about the competition between OpenAI and Anthropic. One person joked, and OpenAI mentioned that they needed to improve their online skills, only to realize it was because they were “bullying Dario’s profile image online”.
