2026-08-18 23:22:11
According to CoinMeta, Ethereum has announced the launch of the Plataberget public test network, which will serve as a testing platform for the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade. This upgrade will increase the size limit for Ethereum smart contracts from 24KB to 64KB, with the mainnet upgrade expected to take place in the second half of 2026. The Plataberget network will act as a public testing ground, allowing developers, validators, and other Ethereum users to conduct tests before officially migrating to the long-term running networks (such as Sepolia and Hoodi). This network is expected to utilize around 50,000 validators and cover approximately 50 nodes, testing various client combinations. The upgrade will also introduce several improvements to enhance Ethereum's transaction processing capabilities.
