According to CoinMeta, Vietnam plans to advance a pilot program for regulated cryptocurrency markets, with the first batch of platforms expected to launch in the third quarter of 2026. As reported by The Business Times, Vietnam needs to make improvements in areas such as virtual asset regulation to address shortcomings in anti-money laundering supervision. Since June 2023, Vietnam has been listed on the gray list by the Financial Action Task Force. Vietnam is the third-largest cryptocurrency market in the Asia-Pacific region, having received over $200 billion in cryptocurrency transactions in the 12 months prior to June 2025. The pilot market requires that transactions be registered and tracked through licensed virtual asset service providers, and prospective licensed operators are required to meet criteria such as having at least 10 trillion Vietnamese dong in paid-in capital, proper operational processes, and information security measures.
