Visa Seeking Stablecoin Partners to Cover Four Major Markets
2026-08-19 17:53:07
According to CoinMeta, Visa is seeking new stablecoin settlement and over-the-counter (OTC) trading partners. Previously, Mastercard acquired BVNK, which previously held this role. As per a report released on August 18th, Visa's confidential product request is seeking providers that hold cryptocurrency exchange licenses in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Singapore. The document requires support for multiple stablecoins, including the ability to conduct exchanges. The selected companies will also assist in handling transactions involving Open USD. Visa has declined to comment on this request and has not publicly confirmed any candidates or disclosed a timeline for selection. The licensing requirements mentioned in the report give this search a clear American focus. Successful candidates need to have regulatory coverage in the four major financial markets, rather than operating through a patchwork of regional partners.
