According to CoinMeta, Maya Protocol was attacked on August 18 due to six software vulnerabilities, resulting in a loss of approximately $1.7 million. Maya, co-founder of Maya, stated that the team has taken measures to control further losses and has begun to restore operations. The impact of this incident is that the attackers exploited multiple accounting and execution vulnerabilities to carry out a transaction, successfully converting the manipulated protocol balances into Bitcoin, Ethereum, Rune, and stablecoins. Aalux revealed that the attackers withdrew a total of about 20 Bitcoins and $300,000 in assets, and a global suspension was implemented after the vulnerabilities were discovered. Certik estimated the loss at nearly $1.7 million, and the incident was classified as a decentralized finance attack, rather than phishing or wallet theft. Independent security researcher Vini Barbosa pointed out that the six vulnerabilities formed an attack chain that affected transaction accounts, outbound transaction processing, and liquidity pool calculations.
