Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau pushes to lift the U.S. ban on alcohol sales

According to CoinMeta, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is pushing to end some of the bans on the retail sale of American alcoholic beverages, in hopes of facilitating the finalization of a US-Canada trade agreement. Tim Houston, the governor of Nova Scotia, stated that during a teleconference with provincial governors on Wednesday, Trudeau requested that they resume the sale of American wine and spirits in local stores once the agreement is finalized. Last year, most Canadian provinces removed American alcoholic products from their shelves as a retaliation for tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, resulting in a significant decline in export sales for American wine and spirits producers. Currently, most provinces still maintain these sales bans, including Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia. The White House considers the end of these bans to be one of the core pillars of any US-Canada trade agreement.
