French Financial Markets Authority warns of fake news websites attracting traffic
2026-08-20 09:05:09
According to CoinMeta, the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF) has warned that recently there have been multiple instances of fake news websites impersonating well-known French media outlets such as Le Monde, Le Figaro, and other publications. These sites fabricate "investment experiences" of sports, political, business, and television celebrities in order to attract traffic to a purported cryptocurrency trading platform. Some of these fake articles even claim that the projects are regulated by the French government or relevant authorities, and that investors can earn returns far exceeding those of bank savings within a month. The AMF stated that this platform does not hold any relevant licenses from the European Union and has already added it to a blacklist, while further investigations into related websites are underway.
