Trump mentioned Hyperliquid at the White House; CFTC is promoting compliance implementation
2026-08-20 13:49:58
According to CoinMeta, during a White House meeting with crypto industry executives, Trump mentioned that the chairman of CFTC, Mike Selig, is working to bring Hyperliquid into the U.S. market in a “completely compliant and legal manner.” This is seen as a clear signal from the government that they wish to introduce major offshore perpetual contract infrastructure into the United States. The market reacted swiftly, with the price of $HYPE rising by double digits (reports indicate an increase between 11% and 19%), and related products (Hyperliquid strategies, Purr, and some HYPE ETF) also saw significant gains. Hyperliquid has always been a dominant decentralized perpetual contract platform, but it has banned U.S. users. A compliant path for the U.S. would represent a major shift in narrative.
