Netherlands International: The US dollar continues its downward trend, and expanded US Treasury bond repurchases boost risk sentiment

According to CoinMeta, Chris Turner, a strategist at ING Group, stated in a report that the US dollar fell to a three-month low against a basket of currencies, mainly due to the US Treasury's decision to increase the scale of long-term Treasury bond repurchases, which boosted market risk appetite. He pointed out that this move indicates that US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is willing to take action to curb rising long-term borrowing costs, thereby reducing one of the main threats facing risky assets this summer, weakening the dollar's status as a safe-haven asset, and supporting emerging market currencies. The US Dollar Index DXY once fell to 98.708. Turner said that if risky assets continue to rise driven by more proactive intervention measures from the US Treasury, the index could further decline to 98.65.
