According to CoinMeta, as reported by the American financial media Semafor, President Donald Trump's latest measure to avoid an escalation of military action against Iran comes at a time when the United States believes that talks between Iran and Oman have reached a stalemate. A U.S. official and a White House official stated that the U.S. government believes that negotiations between Iran and Oman broke down several weeks ago. These talks once discussed the possibility of reaching a toll collection agreement in the Strait of Hormuz, which disappointed Trump. The Omani embassy has not responded to the U.S. view on its negotiations. However, Trump still describes the situation in Iran as "very good" and optimistically believes that economic pressure can force Tehran to return to the negotiating table, although he has halted future talks for the foreseeable future. Last night, Trump posted on social media threatening to launch an "economic war" against Iran, stating that the United States will impose sanctions on any country that conducts business with Tehran.
