According to CoinMeta, listed Bitcoin mining companies and their peers in data centers such as AI spent $30.7 billion on capital expenditures in the first half of 2026, exceeding the $21.53 billion spent throughout 2025 (an increase of 42.6%). Among them, 12 listed mining companies spent $6.87 billion on capital expenditures in the first half of the year (which already exceeds the $6.5 billion spent in 2025), while AI native cloud companies CoreWeave ($14.12 billion) and Nebius ($8.13 billion) accounted for nearly three-quarters of the total expenditures of the 15 companies included in the statistics. Among the mining companies, Terawulf ($1.61 billion), Applied Digital ($1.58 billion), Core Scientific ($1.18 billion), and Cipher ($911.5 million) ranked at the top. Although the business revenues of 9 major mining companies, HPC and AI, increased by 52% quarter-on-quarter to $205.8 million in the second quarter (with a cumulative total of $341.2 million for the first half of the year), the capital expenditures during the same period were nearly 15 times that business revenue.
