Cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin rose 9% this week

According to CoinMeta, as of August 19th, Bitcoin has risen by 9% this week, Ethereum by 20%, while XRP has risen by 10%. Since the beginning of the year, Bitcoin has fallen by about 21%, and Ethereum by about 24%. Bitcoin is the world's first decentralized digital currency and has evolved into a mainstream financial asset since its first transaction in 2009. Despite its high volatility, Bitcoin's resilience has also been continuously strengthening, especially with product innovations that have expanded the ways investors can manage this volatility. Ethereum is a native cryptocurrency that operates on the Ethereum blockchain platform and has held the second-largest market share since its launch in July 2015. XRP was launched in 2012 and was once one of the larger cryptocurrencies.
