OpenAI Codex Official Responds to Disputes over Reduced Quotas
2026-08-21 19:51:21
According to CoinMeta, the person in charge of OpenAI Codex, Tibo Sottiaux, responded to the recent controversy over quota reductions. He stated that OpenAI would not secretly modify quotas, and the team's investigation found that some affected users were using sub2api to convert their subscriptions into API traffic and distribute it to multiple people, which may have triggered the anti-fraud system's alerts. Nevertheless, he added that no abnormalities have been found in the overall usage system so far, and the investigation is still ongoing. Meanwhile, Codex has surpassed 20 million active users this week. To celebrate this milestone, OpenAI will distribute a "banked reset" to all Codex and ChatGPT Work users, who can choose a time to restore their quotas.
