Sandbox: Cross-chain bridge vulnerability has been completely controlled, with an impact of less than 0.01%

According to CoinMeta, the Sandbox team has announced that they have fully controlled the vulnerability in their cross-chain bridge. This vulnerability allowed attackers to mint unsupported SAND tokens on the Base and BNB smart chains. The project estimates that this directly affected less than 0.01% of its total supply of 3 billion tokens. Sandbox indicates that no user wallets were affected, and the SAND tokens held on Ethereum and Polygon remain secure. The team has disabled the bridging with these two networks to prevent the affected tokens from being redeemed. Early on-chain alerts showed that attackers minted over 500 million SAND tokens, and subsequent data indicated that approximately 14.9 billion SAND tokens were created on two addresses. This incident did not cause significant direct financial losses to the project, and Sandbox will continue to investigate and release further information.
