According to CoinMeta, Coldcard has released an emergency firmware update due to a $130 million Bitcoin theft incident. Coldcard now requires users to generate new seeds by pressing a key 65 times, rolling a die 50 times, or flipping a coin 128 times to increase randomness. Users who generated seeds between 2021 and July 2026 must immediately create new seeds and transfer their Bitcoins. Coinkite indicates that law enforcement agencies are actively investigating these theft cases; for more details, please refer to Decrypt.
