Polygon Team Advances Proposals for Staking and Economic Model Reform
2026-08-23 01:20:32
According to CoinMeta, the Polygon team is advancing proposals for reforms to the staking and economic models due to strong demand from the community. The team stated that this year their revenue has increased tenfold, their processing capacity has reached 5,000 transactions per second, the block time has been reduced by 25%, and they aim to achieve a block time of less than 1 second. Next, they will introduce native L1-style staking, with priority fees going to the stakers. This proposal has already been approved in PIP-85, but the implementation progress has been slower due to challenges on Ethereum. It is expected that staking rewards will nearly double, with funds coming from actual network fees rather than inflation. In addition, staking POL will also come with additional incentives, which may include discounted gas fees. Polygon Labs will build the code and submit the proposal on the community forum for approval.
