Decoding the Bitcoin Mystery: Reproducing Satoshi Nakamoto's Genesis Block Data
2026-08-23 18:03:05
According to CoinMeta, recently an unknown cryptographer decrypted a Bitcoin puzzle and created a wallet based on the data from the 2009 genesis block. Analysts at Galaxy Research detected this unusual activity in block 963,629, where 255 bytes of text information were embedded in a transaction through the OP_return field. With the total transaction size being 500 bytes, the researchers described this as being exceptionally large. The mining fee for this operation was only 250 satoshis (0.60 sat / vb). Instead of generating a random mnemonic phrase, the creator embedded the wallet’s source data into the public information of Satoshi Nakamoto’s genesis block. A statement within this transaction explained the logic: “I created a Bitcoin puzzle and used the information from Satoshi Nakamoto’s genesis block to generate the wallet. The entropy is extremely low; everything needed is already in the first block. Good luck!” The puzzle also included a payment-based clue mechanism, where users sent Bitcoin transactions to a specified wallet address to obtain clues; the larger the transfer, the more precise the generated clue. The crypto community has joined in the competition, attempting to link the digital signature of the cryptocurrency’s founder with the new puzzle wallet.
