According to CoinMeta, Canada has announced that it will impose retaliatory tariffs in US dollars on US goods starting September 8th, a move made after trade negotiations with the United States broke down. The United States previously imposed 50% tariffs on Canadian exports worth approximately $20 billion. The Canadian government plans to retaliate with tariffs on US steel, dairy products, household appliances, agricultural equipment, electronic products, pulp, and paper, among others. Although Canada has not yet released a list of the final products affected, it is expected to pose a threat to cross-border supply chains and may increase volatility in North American stocks and the Canadian dollar.
