Yahoo AI Search to be fully launched within Scout years, targeting Generation Z

According to CoinMeta, Yahoo is preparing to fully roll out its AI Answer Engine Scout within this year, with the aim of re-attracting young users through AI search. Scout was launched in January of this year and currently covers both the US web version and Yahoo Search apps. The engine primarily utilizes Anthropic Claude and integrates with Microsoft's Bing web search, while also combining Yahoo's own news, finance, and sports content, as well as over 30 years of search data. Answers provided by the engine will include direct links to their sources. Yahoo also plans to add advertisements to the AI search results, moving its existing search advertising business to the new answer engine. Yahoo is currently controlled by Apollo Global Management, and investment bankers believe that the company may be sold as early as next year. CEO Jim Lanzone has not responded to the transaction plans, stating only that its current top priority is to restore growth.
