Commonwealth Bank of Australia: A U.S. debt of over $40 trillion could provide support for Asian currencies
2026-08-24 09:41:31
According to CoinMeta, the Reserve Bank of Australia stated that concerns arising from the US Treasury debt scale exceeding $40 trillion for the first time could provide support for Asian currencies. The bank's Global Economics and Markets Research department pointed out in a research report that worries about the sustainability of government debt could put pressure on the US dollar this week. The statements made by US Treasury Secretary Yellen have raised market expectations for a budget consolidation plan to be announced this week. If the consolidation efforts are limited, it could disappoint market participants and lead to a weakening of the US dollar. Currently, the US dollar is roughly at par with the Japanese yen at 158.9, while the Australian dollar remains stable against the US dollar at 0.7166.
