Ledger: Ethereum signature vulnerability has been fixed
2026-08-24 13:50:45
According to CoinMeta, Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet stated that Ledger had already fixed certain clear-signing process vulnerabilities in its Ethereum applications before they were publicly disclosed by another security company. Guillemet mentioned that Ledger Donjon's internal security research team used an artificial intelligence vulnerability research system to discover this flaw and deployed a fix about two weeks before making the announcement. Users who are using the current Ledger firmware and applications are already protected. As of August 24th, there have been no independently verified reports of funds being stolen through this vulnerability. Guillemet also noted that certain FUD regarding Ledger signatories are circulating, some of which originate from a "smart contract security" company that claimed to have found vulnerabilities in an Ledger Ethereum application. This vulnerability involves certain clear-signing processes and may affect users' ability to view transaction details before approving them. Ledger has acknowledged the existence of vulnerabilities in "certain clear-signing processes," but has not released a detailed technical description or security recommendations. Users should update their Ledger wallet software, device firmware, and installed Ethereum applications to ensure their safety.
