The US will impose a 7.5% tariff on Chinese goods

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Bloomberg, U.S. President Donald Trump plans to impose a 7.5% tariff on Chinese goods ahead of negotiations next month. This move could affect the negotiations, as Trump's tariffs during his second term are set to return to around 20%, although this level is still within what China considers acceptable. Trump and Xi Jinping are scheduled to meet in Washington on September 24. This action may be a technical response to the Supreme Court's reversal of some of the U.S. tariffs. In July, Trump imposed a 12.5% tariff on Chinese goods due to China's insufficient efforts regarding forced labor issues. In response, China's Ministry of Commerce stated that it hopes the United States will keep its commitments and ensure that future tariffs on China do not exceed the levels stipulated during the trade consultations in Kuala Lumpur.
