According to CoinMeta, Wu said that Base announced that the tokenized stocks issued by Coinbase have been launched on the Base network based on the B20 standards. These tokens represent real stocks held 1:1 by regulated custodians. Users can hold tokenized stocks of companies such as Apple and Nvidia in eligible regions through self-custodied wallets, and can trade, borrow, and use these tokens for other applications within the Base ecosystem. Base stated that tokenized stocks will provide a new type of asset for on-chain finance, supporting 24/7 trading, serving as collateral, and can be used in combination with decentralized protocols. These assets are managed by Alpaca as a regulated broker and custodian, and more Coinbase tokenized stocks will be launched in the future.
