According to CoinMeta, South Korean semiconductor companies are facing a dual investment burden. The U.S. side is demanding that South Korean companies build semiconductor production facilities in the United States and ensure supply, while also expressing dissatisfaction with South Korea's plan to advance a 800 trillion won ($74 billion) Hunan Semiconductor Cluster project. Kim Jong-gwan, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, discussed these matters during his visit to the United States. The South Korean government believes that the U.S. demands are independent from the two countries' $350 billion investment arrangement in the U.S., and plans to announce its first investment project in the U.S. in September. Foreign Minister Cho Hyun-suk spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to exchange views on investments in the U.S. and bilateral relations.
