Centralized crypto exchanges see daily trading volume double to $37 billion in just five days

According to CoinMeta, based on early data from in, the daily trading volume of centralized exchanges (CEX) doubled within five days to reach $37 billion, but it is still below the peak of $105 billion set on October 10, 2025. As of August, the trading volume has reached $490 billion, which is lower than the $670 billion in July. Spot trading and digital asset treasury transactions (CEX) have been dragging down the overall volume, with demand for altcoins shifting towards CEX. Bitcoin and Ethereum both rose by over 23% and 30% last week, respectively, while the market value of altcoins increased by about 13% during the same period. Hyperliquid and Lighter among others are currently diverting some of the trading volume (CEX).
