According to CoinMeta, union members of South Korean chip manufacturer SK Hynix rejected a temporary salary agreement on Tuesday, with over 50% of the voting employees opposing the deal. Of the 15,045 employees who voted, 50.08% cast their votes against it. The agreement was reached last week and included a 6.3% salary increase, as well as revisions to Hynix's profit-sharing bonus scheme. Under this new scheme, 40% of the bonuses are paid in cash, while 60% are issued in the form of company shares. As the world's second-largest memory chip manufacturer, SK Hynix is benefiting from the surge in demand for high-bandwidth memory chips driven by artificial intelligence applications, resulting in strong financial performance.
