According to CoinMeta, Japan plans to establish a blockchain-based system to achieve instant, 24/7 settlement of stocks and government bonds. The Financial Services Agency of Japan, the Ministry of Finance, and the Bank of Japan will collaborate with financial institutions and may tokenize the Bank of Japan's reserves to enable real-time settlement. The development plan is expected to be ready by the beginning of 2027, and the system could be launched in the early 2030s, marking an important step towards the integration of traditional financial markets with blockchain technology.
