Kraken Restricts customer account due to 12,000 small-value transfers associated with HTX

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Bloomberg, Kraken temporarily restricted some customer accounts due to nearly 12,000 small cryptocurrency transfers from wallets associated with HTX. These transfers occurred between August 17th and 24th, with most amounts being just a few cents or dollars. Kraken referred to this behavior as a "dust attack," aimed at dispersing sanctioned funds into unrelated accounts and triggering compliance reviews. Kraken stated that access to the affected customers' accounts has been restored after completing the reviews, but these unrequested funds are still kept separately as they are related to the sanctioned wallets. This incident exposed weaknesses in compliance systems that rely on direct wallet exposure.
