According to CoinMeta, HSBC Hong Kong requires existing investment customers from the Chinese mainland to submit a "Declaration for Opening/Maintaining an Account" through HSBC Hong Kong’s app by September 12 and to update their contact information. The declaration includes confirming that the investment funds come from legal sources outside of mainland China. If the submission is not made by August 20, investment services may be suspended; if not submitted by September 12, investment services may be terminated. A spokesperson for HSBC Hong Kong stated that this requirement is aimed at complying with regulatory and KYC obligations. In May of this year, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued monitoring measures regarding the opening and maintenance of investment accounts.
