Indian refiners cut back on Russian oil purchases, turning to other regions
2026-08-26 13:54:42
According to CoinMeta, as the attacks in Ukraine affect Russia's crude oil supply to India, Indian refiners are reducing their purchases of Russian oil from previous high levels and turning to suppliers in West Africa, the Americas, and the Persian Gulf. Sumit Ritolia, a senior manager at the analysis firm Kpler, stated that India's imports of Russian oil this month are expected to drop to about 2 million barrels per day, lower than the high of around 2.8 million barrels per day in July, reflecting the normalization of purchases and increased competition from other regions. In the coming months, Russia's crude oil supply to India is expected to recover to over 2 million barrels per day.
