According to CoinMeta, based on early monitoring of in, attackers exploited a vulnerability in the Cosmos EVM shared module to steal 50 million NES tokens. Due to insufficient liquidity, they actually only made a profit of 60,000 US dollars. The attacker, with an address starting at 0x9ae7..., spent 250,000 US dollars to purchase NES and used the vulnerability to inflate their balance, then transferred 50 million NES tokens across chains back to Ethereum. When the attacker tried to exchange these tokens for NES on DEX, they encountered significant slippage. They spent 255,000 US dollars to carry out the attack and cashed out 315,000 US dollars, resulting in a net profit of about 60,000 US dollars. Another chain, Cosmos EVM, also suffered a similar attack that resulted in a loss of 1.4 million US dollars. Bubblemaps determined that the two incidents were carried out by different attackers.
