Institutions say data centers planned in the United States face the risk of delays or cancellations
2026-08-27 01:47:05
According to CoinMeta, co-founder Kimmeridge of institution Ben Dell stated that due to factors such as intensifying political opposition, litigation, and the complexity of physical infrastructure construction, there is a 50% chance that the planned data centers in the United States may be delayed or canceled. He pointed out that the demand for natural gas in the US is expected to increase by about 30 billion cubic feet per day in the future, with data centers potentially contributing 5 to 10 billion cubic feet of that demand. However, project delays could result in the related demand falling at the lower end of the predicted range. As the mid-term elections in the US approach, data centers are rapidly becoming a political issue, and opposition from both parties is rising in several states, including Pennsylvania, Texas, and Ohio.
