Coinbase Collaborates with Lending Institutions to Launch Bitcoin-Mortgage Loans
2026-08-27 08:21:04
According to CoinMeta, Coinbase and mortgage lender Better have announced the launch of a new type of mortgage that allows qualified buyers in the United States to use Bitcoin as a down payment, without the need for cash payment. Buyers are required to mortgage Bitcoin worth 250% of the down payment, and they can retrieve all their Bitcoin after the mortgage is paid off. This move enables Bitcoin to be directly used for home purchases, and a decline in Bitcoin prices does not trigger the requirement for additional margin payments.
