According to CoinMeta, Israel is increasing its investment in unmanned maritime vehicles to ensure the security of trade routes. Israel has long considered its main adversary, Iran, and its proxy organizations, to be located beyond the country's eastern land borders, which has made the navy one of the smaller and less financially equipped branches of the Israeli military. The regional wars that erupted nearly three years ago have placed immense pressure on Israel's maritime defense. Israeli officials have stated that they have recognized the need for a larger fleet. Currently, the Israeli Navy operates 10 small unmanned surface vessels and 1 large unmanned underwater vehicle. Yaron Sarig, the head of the Executive Office of the Research and Development Agency of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, confirmed that the navy is expanding its investment in autonomous maritime unmanned vehicles. For a navy of Israel's size, unmanned maritime vehicles are economically viable; they can expand coverage at a cost far lower than that of manned vessels, with shorter procurement cycles and fewer personnel requirements.
