2026-08-27 15:03:33
According to CoinMeta, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated that the economic scale of Muslim countries is still relatively small compared to their population and geopolitical position, therefore he called for enhanced cooperation in the region. He pointed out that the 57 member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) span from Southeast Asia to Africa, are located at important maritime and land transportation routes, possess energy resources, have a young population structure, and have vast markets. Raisi emphasized that the total economy of these countries in 2024 was approximately 9.2 trillion US dollars, accounting for only 8.3% of the global economy. He also mentioned that only 19% of the member countries' export earnings remain within the OIC organization, while the rest flow to countries outside of the OIC, and called for an expansion of trade exchanges among Muslim countries.
