Revolut Launches Euro Stablecoin EURR; Tether Locked in EU Market
2026-08-27 15:26:41
According to CoinMeta, Revolut launched the euro-stablecoin EURR on August 26 in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. This move comes at a time when Tether has been locked in the same market since July 1. Tether holds a 59% share of the global stablecoin market, with a circulation of $186 billion. However, due to the lack of application for electronic currency authorization from the European Union, its trading in the European market was removed. The EURR of Revolut is issued by Bridge Building S.A., with the aim of complying with EU regulatory requirements and utilizing its base of 80 million users for distribution.
