They cited public court documents stating that blockchain analysis company Chainalysis operated Tornado Cash and relayer in 2022, earning fees from transactions conducted through relayer. Storm claimed that their lawyers had previously summoned Chainalysis personnel to appear in court, but Chainalysis applied to have the summons revoked. Court records related to this application also show that a Chainalysis witness planned to invoke the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to refuse to testify. Based on this, Storm questioned that Chainalysis, as a partner in the government's blockchain tracking efforts, actually operated the infrastructure for Tornado Cash and received fees for it, while they themselves are facing ongoing criminal proceedings for their involvement in developing Tornado Cash. Storm also stated that the retrial of their case has been postponed to April 26, 2027, and their motion for a not-guilty verdict is still pending a decision.
