According to CoinMeta, the number of people claiming unemployment benefits in the United States dropped to 203,000 at the beginning of last week, lower than the expected 208,000. The data from the previous week was slightly revised upward from 206,000 to 207,000, indicating that layoffs remain relatively low. Combined with yesterday's high PCE inflation figures, a strong labor market may strengthen the Federal Reserve's rationale for maintaining high interest rates.
