According to CoinMeta, the number of people filing initial unemployment claims in the United States decreased at the beginning of last week, indicating that despite a surprising decline in employment in July, the U.S. labor market remains stable. The U.S. Department of Labor stated on Thursday that as of the week ending August 22, the number of initial claims decreased by 4,000 after seasonal adjustments to 203,000, compared to economists' expectations of 208,000. The current level of initial claims is at the lower end of this year's range of 189,000 to 230,000, suggesting that even though hiring activities are weak, the scale of layoffs remains low. The unemployment rate in the U.S. fell slightly again last month to 4.1%, reaching a historic low. If the labor market continues to remain stable, the Federal Reserve may be able to continue to focus on controlling inflation. The U.S. inflation rate has been above the Federal Reserve's target of 2% for 65 consecutive months. Data also shows that the number of people continuing to receive unemployment benefits decreased by 18,000 to 1.778 million, and this indicator can serve as a reference for hiring conditions.
