According to CoinMeta, California's meme coin regulatory bill AB 2409 has been passed by both the state House of Representatives and the Senate and is now awaiting the governor's signature. The bill prohibits public officials and government employees from issuing meme coin, and will prohibit the listing and trading of meme coin to California residents starting from January 1, 2027.
