According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Navy's blockade measures led to a sharp decline in Iran's oil exports in August. Iran's crude oil exports have dropped from 1.7 million barrels per day in August 2025 to about 260,000 barrels per day this month, a decrease of over 80%. The Trump administration re-imposed the blockade on July 14 in response to Iran's attacks on oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to data from the trade intelligence company Kpler, Iran's crude oil loading volume decreased by about 70% in August compared to the previous month. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced a plan aimed at cutting off Iran's financial connections around the world, stating that the most stringent sanctions in history would be implemented.
