According to CoinMeta, Polygon Labs issued an emergency notice requesting fixes for node consensus divergence and resource depletion risks. After the activation of the Austin and Kyoto hard forks, the Polygon PoS nodes of the older versions Bor or Heimdall have diverged from consensus and need to be upgraded to catch up with the network progress. Austin was activated at block 91.9497 million on the mainnet, requiring Bor and v2.10.0 as well as versions above Kyoto to be activated at height 51.533 million, along with Heimdall and v0.11.0 and above. Austin has fixed two types of resource depletion risks: bridge state synchronization events from L1 to L2 were not counted within the gas limit, and the lack of a size limit for the txdependency field caused peer nodes to crash.
